Obituary: Lela A. and Fred L. Findlay

Lela A. Findlay, 85, died Dec. 4, 2022, at home in Tooele, Utah. Fred L. Findlay, 88, died Jan. 10, 2023, at Rocky Mountain Care-Willow Springs in Tooele, after a short stay, just 38 days apart from his sweetheart.

Lela was born in Rock Springs, Wyo., the daughter of Leo and Genevieve Schow. Fred was born in Ogden, Utah, the son of Russell and Delores Findlay, Arlene Findlay.

Lela and Fred were married on July 23, 1955, in Kemmerer, Wyo., and later sealed in the LDS Temple. Both were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lela worked in various jobs earlier in life before owning her own wholesale jewelry business, West Trends, and later retired.

Fred served in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he worked at Tooele Army Depot and later retired after 25 years of service. After retirement, Fred and Lela moved from West Valley City, Utah, to Marbleton, Wyo.

They both loved Wyoming.

Surviving is a daughter, Robin Findlay, of Price, Utah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rus (Lisa) Findlay of Alexandria, Ala., and Errol (Suzie) Findlay of Tooele. Lela and Fred had eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-granchildren. Fred is survived by brother Lynn and sisters Sandy and BethAnn.

Fred and Lela were preceded in death by a son, Cress, and grandson, Brandon. Fred is proceeded in death by his brothers, Gorman, Chet and sister Elaine. Lela is proceeded in death by her brothers, Daryl, Vernon (Butch) and sister, Carla.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers and hospice care for all their compassionate support.
