Big Piney senior Colby Jenks dashes for the finish line at the State Cross-Country Championships in Ethete on Saturday, Oct. 22. Jenks earned All-State honors in cross-country with a fourth-place finish in the boys’ 4A division. Jenks competed with the Jackson Hole High School (JHHS) cross-country team and posted a time of 16 minutes, 23.24 seconds on the 5K course, setting a blistering pace of 5:17 per mile. Jenks started off the race in 10th place, pulling ahead to seventh place at the bottom of the hill at the course’s midway point, said head JHHS Coach Jeff Brazil. Hitting his stride for the final 600 meters, Jenks pulled into fourth place. ‘In the last stretch, Colby stormed past some of the best runners in the state,’ said Brazil. ‘Crossing the line alone in fourth was a great way to end his high school cross-country career.’
