SUBLETTE COUNTY – Sublette County is now home to several cowboys and cowgirls who are among the top of the nation after a week of non-stop rodeos came to an end on Saturday, concluding this year’s National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) in Rock Springs.

Local competitors, Rylee Whitman, Karson Bradley, Kassidy Williams, Chance Ames and Tanner Butner, represented the county well with a little bit of grit and spunk.

Each competitor had the opportunity to ride in their qualified event twice, and if they made the top 20, they competed in the “short-round,” the final rodeo Saturday evening. Students from all over the country and several Canadian provinces came out to ride.

Bradley, riding for her first time at the NHSFR, finished in the top 20 in both barrels and poles. She also was named Rookie All-Around Cowgirl of the year, which is a title given to first-year NHSFR riders who earn the most points in at least two events. It was clear Bradley was very proud of her horse over the course of the week.

“My horse did really good. She’s young, and that was her first experience with Nationals,” she said. “I thought she handled everything very good, and I was very proud of her.”
