PINEDALE – U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi brought his campaign to Pinedale Saturday with an hour-long listening session at the Sublette County Library. After meeting with constituents, Enzi sat down with the Examiner to discuss the campaign’s progress, goals he’d like to achieve and some local issues.
Enzi had an early start to his campaign. In July, Liz Cheney, daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, announced she would challenge Enzi at the 2014 Republican primary. That didn’t dismay the incumbent.
“I’ve never run against anybody; I’ve always run for the job,” he said. “I talk about what I’ve done in the past and what I’ll do in the future, and I hope those are the reasons why people will hire me.”
Cheney left the race in January, and now, unchallenged, Enzi said he remains the right person for the job because his experience, seniority and knowledge of how the system is supposed to function puts him in a position to get things done.
