PINEDALE – After a tough weekend of away games, the Wranglers now return to action in Sublette County. The Pinedale and Big Piney high school basketball teams face off in the cross-county rivalry game tonight in Big Piney, with tip off for varsity action at 7 p.m. The junior varsity game begins at 4 p.m.

This will be the only meeting between the two teams this year. The Punchers (4-0, 14-2) come to the competition with a 14 game winning streak – their last loss was on Dec. 6. Big Piney leads the 2A Southwest conference and has history on their side – they won last year’s matchup 51-42.

The Wranglers are still looking for their first win of the season.

On Friday, Pinedale was in Powell taking on the Panthers (5-2, 9-5). The Wranglers lost 69-35.

“Powell is a really athletic team with a lot of solid athletes and two really solid players,” coach Kade Ferguson said. “They brought a lot of pressure defensively, and we didn’t handle it very well.”
