Alberta Louise Shenefelt, 87, passed away Jan. 12 at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. Louise was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to George P. and M. Louise Gorn. She attended Creighton University, the University of Omaha and the University of Wyoming, eventually graduating from UW in 1949 with a BA in education, majoring in mathematics. She married the love of her life, Donald Douglas Shenefelt Jr., on May 24, 1947, and to this union were born five children, Kathleen, Donald, Ronald, Michael and John.
Louise was a devout member of the Catholic Church and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cheyenne until November of 2003, when she moved to Pinedale and then attended Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, daughter Kathleen Marie Kostelc, parents George and Louise Gorn and sister Georgene Wiseman. She is survived by her four sons, Donald Douglas III of Pinedale, Ronald Eugene (Debbie) of Gillette, Michael George of Cheyenne, John Joseph (Teresa) of Daniel; son-in-law Dan Kostelc of Pinedale; sister Margy Golden of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be held Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Our lady of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held the following morning at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at a later date in the Olivet Cemetery in Cheyenne.
