PINEDALE – Troy Willoughby has ended his civil suit against former Sublette County employees who were involved in the murder investigation that led to his conviction in 2010 and subsequent release in 2011. The U.S. District Court of Wyoming confirmed Willoughby’s civil suit has been settled. Records obtained by the Associated Press (AP) show the settlement paid $1.25 million.
According to the AP, Wyoming and the state’s Local Government Liability Pool each paid $625,000 to settle the federal suit, which was heard by U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl.
The defendants were Randall Hanson, former Sublette County Attorney’s Office investigator, Brian Ketterhagen, former Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) captain and Sarah Brew, former SCSO deputy. Court records show complaints against all three plaintiffs have been dismissed with prejudice.
