PINEDALE – A special prosecutor is conducting an investigation that could potentially result in criminal charges being leveled against Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies. The former county law officers were involved in the investigation of Troy Willoughby, who was convicted in 2010 of the 1984 murder of Lisa Ehlers.
Willoughby’s conviction was overturned in 2011 after Sublette County Attorney Neal Stelting revealed former SCSO officers had kept potentially exculpatory evidence from the defense team. Sheridan County Attorney Matt Redle is now conducting an investigation into criminal charges against the officers responsible, through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
