Sublette County movie in the backcountry
A couple of years ago Jennifer Faus spent the winter in Pinedale enjoying the solitude needed for her writing. Inspired by our landscape and the people, she later wrote a screenplay called “Backcountry.”
A major production studio picked it up, and until a while ago, it looked as if a new movie would be made somewhere in Sublette County. At the last moment, they chose a script for a different movie probably because it included more sex and violence.
Jennifer describes her movie script this way:
“After serving in Afghanistan, Mary Walker returns home to brave the harsh realities of cattle ranching in the backcountry of Wyoming. There she learns that physically punishing work, a frozen land and big losses are offset by a life of starry nights, mountain air and miracles.”
She is concerned that our country’s young women are lacking in proper role models and hopes that Mary Walker of “Backcountry” could be an inspiration.
She has mailed two screenplay scripts in book form to us, and we can lend them out. The script can also be ordered at amazon.com.
After being seriously delayed, Jennifer is back to square one on hooking up with a movie studio. If you have an idea on how to promote the movie, call and we will give you Jennifer’s email address. It would be nice to have a ranch movie like this one filmed in Sublette County.
