Sarah Shafer took 14th place in the triple jump at State with a mark of 30 feet, 0.75 inches.

BIG PINEY – The Big Piney High School track and field team returned from the state meet with three top finishes and a second-place finish. Sophomore Jace Marx is the reigning 2A conference champion in the 100- and 200-meter sprints, coming from behind after the preliminary races. The boys’ 4x100-meter relay team successfully defended its position as champion tying it’s fastest ever time from last year’s regional meet and beating last year’s State-winning time by 0.14 seconds.

Freshman Emily Taylor was the top-placing girl, taking second in the high jump, matching her best jump with a height of 4 feet, 10 inches. As a freshman, she has three more years to top the school’s record of 5’02.5, as established by Sage Sanchez in 2011.
