WDH releases ozone health study

Posted: Monday, Apr 15th, 2013

INEDALE – The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) released the results of a Sublette County Ozone Health Study on Wednesday. According to the report, increased ground-level ozone led to more health clinic visits.

To complete the study, the WDH compared health records from the two county clinics in Big Piney/Marbleton and Pinedale and used ground-level ozone daily concentrations, temperature and humidity data collected by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

“The study suggests that for every 10 parts per billion (ppb) increase in the eight-hour maximum ground-level ozone, there was a 3 percent increase in local health clinic visits due to respiratory-related complaints the following day,” a WDH press release reads.
