Childcare coalition dissolves

Posted: Monday, Mar 4th, 2013

The Sublette County Childcare Coalition (SCCC) would like to announce that our group will be dissolving, effective immediately. This was a difficult decision to come to; however, we feel that the timing is right for us to close our doors. We recognize that the childcare situation in Sublette County is not as dire as it was when our organization was originally formed. We are also aware of the importance of being responsible with the funding we were awarded by our county commissioners. These factors, and many others, were considered when making our decision.

The SCCC was formed in 2006 with the mission statement “To promote and support quality and affordable childcare for all children in Sublette County.”

We have assisted childcare providers in many different areas. We offered programs that encouraged providers to take infants in their facilities, provided funding for preschool curriculums, assisted new providers to become state licensed, helped established providers make necessary improvements in their facilities to stay within state licensing guidelines, sponsored local trainings and CPR/First Aid classes and many, many other things.

We were pleased to assist Pinedale and Big Piney school districts with a Summer School Internship Program. We awarded funding to the Wyoming Land Trust to support their summer camps for kids. And throughout the years we have helped to fund several new daycares in Sublette County.

While we are sad to see our time as a board come to an end, we appreciate the support from the communities we have served for the past seven years, as well as our past and present board members. We wish all of our childcare providers the best in their futures and want to thank them for all of the hard work they do every day.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to our county commissioners for their generous support of the SCCC. We are very grateful for the funds you awarded us over the years, and feel that you made an excellent investment in Sublette County children.
