BONDURANT – Last Monday, Tip Top Search and Rescue and other volunteers brought out the body of Elizabeth “Liza” Benson, 28, from the high-altitude ridge where she died the Jan. 27 in an avalanche near Clause Peak in the remote mountains high above Cliff Creek.
Benson had been skiing with four others when a small avalanche broke away and swept her 120 feet downhill into a heavily timbered area at 9,200 feet elevation, according to Sublette County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Smith.
