Dale Talbot Hunter, 49, of Basin, Wyo., passed away at his residence in Basin on Nov. 18, 2012.
He was born Oct. 31, 1963, to Mary L. and R. D. “Dale” Hunter of Helena, Mont., formerly of Basin, Wyo. He attended Cortez High School in Cortez, Col.
Dale served in the U.S. Army for two years, specializing in Tow/Dragon Missile Guidance Systems. He was a PFC in the E. Co. 701st Maintenance Battalion stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., and he served a tour of duty in Germany. Dale was asked for the honor to attend Annapolis Officer School. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on Feb. 21, 1984.
After the military Dale lived in Colorado, Utah, Rock Springs, Wyo., Illinois, back to Colorado, and then moved to Big Piney, Wyo., for several years before moving to Basin 12 years ago.
Dale was employed at Optimum Service Company for many years. He was an avid collector and lover of motorcycles and muscle cars. He loved R/C helicopters and R/C cars. He was a certified mechanic and loved working on vehicles. He will be dearly missed and always loved.
Dale is preceded in death by his mother Mary L. Hunter and father R. D. “Dale” Hunter; his grandmother Lola Mary Rutherford of Basin, Wyo.; and his grandfather, Eddis Talbot Rutherford of Willard, Utah.
Dale is survived by his biological son Charles “Chuck” Hunter of Havana, Ill.; his granddaughter Isabelle Lola Hunter of Havana, Ill.; five stepchildren, Deanna Perkins and her two sons, Landon Talbot Hunter and Jacob Allen Herchkorn, all of Sheridan, Wyo., Chelsy Herchkorn, Samantha Herchkorn, Richard Herchkorn and Ashly Herchkorn and son Thomas Allen Edmunds, all of Greybull, Wyo.; his sister Julie Hunter-Hill and Rick of Helena, Mont.; his wonderful friends Jerry Simoneau and Craig Stebbins and several other wonderful friends who were always there for him; and several loving nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the R/C Model Airplane Field in Basin, Wyo., owned by Bill Stoelk, with Pastor John Henderson as officiant.
