To the Editor:

Post Office boxholders in Bondurant

recently received a postcard from WYDOT informing residents that, in light of the recent “road upgrades,” the department is considering raising the speed limit through Bondurant from 50 mph to 65 mph.

This presents a horrifying vision of semi-trucks, RVs and commuters all screaming past our fire station, church, library and elementary school, businesses, driveways and access roads at interstate speeds.

Our section of the highway is used consistently by children, pets, horses, tractors, bicyclists, joggers and deer, moose and antelope. The extra minute drivers may gain by a burst of speed through our community is not worth the risk to humans and animals. It’s not worth making our valley a dangerous place.

Bondurant is a neighborhood – not just a wide spot on the highway between Jackson and Pinedale.

I encourage the decision-makers at WYDOT to respect the quality of life (and limb) of those living and working in Bondurant. Do not endanger us; do not raise the speed limit through our neighborhood.

Pat Ehrman,

Bonduran
