Sean Robert Schultz
Posted: Monday, Sep 28th, 2009

Sean Robert Schultz, 40, president and founder of Youth Harbor, collapsed and died suddenly from a massive heart attack on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, while coaching his son’s Little League team.

He was born June 24, 1969, in Wayne, Mich., to Bob and Jane Schultz. He graduated from South Lyon High School in 1987. Sean was the youngest of three sons.

Sean was an entrepreneur and moved to Atlanta, Ga., with his best friend Phillip Ramos III to find their fortunes. Not long after, they moved to Charlotte, N.C., to start their own successful carpet-cleaning business.

In 1999, Sean married Kaaren Mires in a little chapel on Lake Wylie, S.C., where they owned and operated The BirdHouse Co. A year later, they welcomed their son Benjamin into their lives and their world was complete. Sean was the past president of the Charlotte Jaycees, past president of the Queen City Jaycees, a lifetime member in the NCJC Cardinal Corps and a lifetime member of the USJCI Senate. He was also a member of the York Rite and Charles M. Setzer Lodge #693 and the Oasis Shrine.

Sean was the founder of a local children's charity, Youth Harbor. He was a proud and dedicated coach for many years with Myers Park Trinity Little League. Sean Schultz was the best husband, father, brother, friend, son, coach, outdoorsman and fisherman a person would ever hope to have the chance of knowing in their lifetime. He was truly selfless and cared more about other people than himself. He was our hero.

Sean is survived by his wife Kaaren and his young son Ben; his mother and father Jane and Bob Schultz; his brother Steven, his wife Heather and their daughter Liberty; his brother Scott, his wife Becky and their son Jackson; and his nephew Justin and his nieces Ashlee and Brittany. Other family and

relatives and many, many friends further survive him.

Funeral services for Sean Schultz were held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Wilson Funeral Home, in, Charlotte, N.C. He was interred in Sharon Memorial Park in a beautiful spot under a tree and next to a peaceful pond. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a fund for his son, Benjamin Sean Schultz.

Our hearts are broken, Sean, and we miss you so very much. Rest in peace, my love. We’re going to remember this when we’re 30 – pull over if you get tired.

A perpetual online memorial has been established for Sean at www.mem.com.

Words simply do not exist to express our sadness or sense of loss – our hearts are broken. We would like to thank everyone for your warm thoughts, kind gestures and loving prayers during this time. Sean can rest in peace knowing that we are surrounded by so many who love and care for us.
