Science vs. politics

Posted: Monday, Mar 17th, 2014

Recently, our illustrious governor has been in national news as being the first state governor to reject the teaching of national science standards in Wyoming schools. His explanation for such

rejection is that if anthropogenic climate change is taught in Wyoming classrooms, it will devastate the economy of the state. In essence, we canít have young peopleís minds damaged by any science that points out the extraction and use of fossil fuels and the byproducts of these actions are in large part altering our environment in such ways that may well lead to our extinction as a species. Well Mr. Governor, regardless of the strength of your convictions and your denial of what 99 percent of the earthís scientists have come to conclusion on, you need to get a grip on reality. And for those who would follow the nonsense the Wyoming government wants to perpetrate as to be damaging to our pocketbooks and not in our best interests for species survival, this will probably not even be visited, but for any of my fellow citizens who have the possibility of an open mind, I offer this piece of journalism. Grim news is not pretty, yet the prospects of even grimmer news is getting downright ugly.
