Dear Editor: I was perplexed when I read Pinedale Town Councilman Chris House’s remarks in the Dec. 4, 2012 article (“Bloomfield Liability Concerns Voiced”) about plowing the road to the new elementary school.
Regarding this plowing, councilman House said in part, the town helps how it can by plowing the road. I could not help wondering, whom exactly is the Town of Pinedale helping?
Let’s do some quick arithmetic. For the previous two winters combined, the Pinedale school district gave the town $12,500 for the snowplowing. The actual cost to the town was $42,840. This means the mayor and town council have so far donated $30,340 of our money as a subsidy or bailout of Haymaker Land Holdings LLC, the property owner.
The mayor and town council are helping all right. Unfortunately, they are helping the Bloomfield developer with an undeserved bunch of our money.
