PINEDALE – Undeterred by the discontinuation of printed application booklets, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) saw an increase in the number of hunters applying for big game licenses this year.
For sportsmen who preferred to fill out an application by hand, they could print a paper copy from the WGFD website and send it in. However, the vast majority of applications were completed online.
The WGFD received 97,324 applications from resident elk, deer and antelope hunters this year, up from 94,736 applications in 2012. Of the applications received in 2013, only 6,505 were submitted on paper forms, a substantial decrease from the 17,712 paper applications submitted in 2012.
Al Langston, WGFD information officer, was pleased the termination of application booklets did not discourage hunters.
