Piney runners race against the wind

Posted: Monday, Apr 8th, 2013

Garrett Lewis took second in the 100-meter dash on Friday, trailing first-place Jace Marx by 0.35 seconds.

BIG PINEY – The Big Piney High School track and field team hosted their only home meet last Friday. Cokeville and Pinedale high schools showed up to compete with the Punchers on a day of wind, hail and rain.

The wind wasn’t going to stop the Punchers, though, and a number of runners not only placed but qualified for State, as well.

Sophomore Jace Marx continues to blow the competition out of the water in his sprints – he beat teammate senior Garrett Lewis by 0.3 seconds to win the 100-meter dash. The young runner also won the 200-meter sprint by more than two seconds – and that was with the first 100 meters running directly into the wind.
