Garnet F. Hilton, of Deming, N.M., died July 7 after an intense battle with cancer. Born in Yorktown, Saskatchewan, on Aug. 29, 1943, he was a lifelong employee of the Canadian National Railroad, who retired to travel North America in his RV after his first wife died. He met Carol H. Ufford on these travels and they married in 2005. Their annual summer RV trips brought them to Bondurant, where Garnet enjoyed visiting with Carolís daughter Joy and Kevin, watching the ranchís hay crew, drinking coffee in the Black Powder dining room, attending services at St. Hubertís and belonging to the Bondurant Community Club.
A memorial service is planned in Deming, N.M., later this year.
