Martin Francis Douglas passed away June 29 at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. He was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Whittier, Calif., to James Reid and Lena Lewis Douglas. His father passed away when he was 6 years old.
Martinís early years were spent in Flagstaff and Phoenix, Ariz., with his mother and sister, Anna. From seventh grade to graduation, he spent his school years in California with his Aunt Rachel and summers in Arizona. After graduation, he went to night school to learn to weld, because he thought it was interesting. He met Evelyn Lind at a dance, and they were married Aug. 5, 1940. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in New York until the end of World War ll. In 1952, he and his family moved to Wyoming, where he continued to weld. He opened Martinís Welding in 1960 in Big Piney, retiring in 1994.
Martin is survived by his son Jimmy (Sandy) Douglas of Evanston, eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, daughter Verna, son Robbie, one grandson and two granddaughters.
Graveside services will be held at the Plainview Cemetery in Big Piney, at 11 a.m. on July 9.
