Helen Mae Peart Smith, 81, of Green River, Wyo., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012. A longtime resident of Green River and former resident of Evanston, Wyo., Mrs. Smith passed away following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Evanston, Wyo., on May 29, 1931, the daughter of the late Spencer McPhail Peart and Francis Hutchinson Peart.
She attended schools in Evanston and graduated from the Evanston High School with the Class of 1949. She married Gerald L. Smith in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 3, 1949.
Her interests included spending time at their summer cabin at Boulder Lake, watching wildlife, crocheting, quilting and other homemade crafts, taking trips to Yellowstone National Park, going on picnics and spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband Gerald L. Smith of Green River, Wyo.; three sons Ronald K. Smith and wife Carol of Mesa, Ariz., Gary A. Smith and wife Ellen of Green River, G. Scott Smith and wife Danera of Green River; daughter Julie A. Luck of Green River; one sister Joyce Carpenter and husband Duane of Evanston; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Spencer Peart, one great-grandson and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services were held Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the LDS Chapel, 1000 West 4th North in Green River, Wyo., with Bishop Richard Carroll conducting. Graveside services and Interment were at the Evanston City Cemetery.
