PINEDALE Courses in suicide prevention training will be offered in Sublette County next month.
The program Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) teaches participants how to recognize and respond to others who may be suicidal. Through a presentation format, warning signs are discussed, as are methods of persuading at-risk individuals to seek help and treatment.
When people learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, they help create a safety net in their communities for fellow residents who may find themselves in crisis, a release announcing the sessions states.
Ranae Pape, Sublette County community prevention specialist, will lead the training. The course will be offered four times on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. The sessions last about an hour and will take place at the Sublette County Library in Pinedale. Everyone is invited to attend and there is no cost for participants.
