Families try to dry off after flooding

Posted: Monday, Sep 16th, 2013

PINEDALE – There have been only a few breaks in the rain since a torrent of water sent massive amounts of mud flowing into the town of LaBarge Thursday evening. Around 20 houses had mud and water flood into basements and garages, damaging homes and their contents.

Kassi Lamon and her husband had 18 inches of mud fill the lower level of their home Thursday night, taking out the laundry room, their son’s collection of toys and some large appliances.

“Our house got hit pretty hard, and it all happened really fast,” she said.

Lamon set out a timeline of getting home and making dinner like she would any other night. Once she and her husband sat down to eat, though, everything changed within a span of 10 minutes. The flood warning came from the National Weather Service around 6 p.m. with word the area had received about two inches of rain already.
