PINEDALE – Sublette County’s public entities have fallen on lean times and Sublette County School District (SCSD) No. 1 is no exception. The district board of trustees met Thursday evening to approve the fiscal year 2013-14 budget, which shows a $2 million deficit.
The board also discussed implementing a new emergency plan to change schools’ responses to violent intruder situations. School Resource Officer and Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Deputy Jason Day led the board through an informational presentation on ALICE training, an acronym for a new response based on five steps: alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate.
The district budget raised a few concerns at the meeting, as it showed a discouraging $2 million deficit, after SCSD No. 1 had worked through a difficult process over the past two years to overcome a significant general fund deficit.
