PINEDALE – Friday, the Wyoming Supreme Court issued its ruling on the case filed by Sublette County residents Ernie Kawa, Paul Rock and Dari Quirk against Sublette County Clerk Mary Lankford regarding the elections to bring the number of Sublette County Commissioners from three to five and back again.
After deliberating, the Supreme Court found the Sublette County District Court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the challenge to the May 2012 special election and remanded the case back to the district court for dismissal.
Ultimately, the decision came back to the fact that, as an election contest, the appellants, Kawa, Rock and Quirk, did not file their petition in a timely manner, there were not enough petitioners and the district court did not have jurisdiction.
