SUBLETTE COUNTY – Searchers continued their efforts Monday to locate an overdue Cessna 182 expected to land in Pinedale Saturday around 2:30 p.m. but never arrived.
On Saturday at 8:02 p.m., the Sublette County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) received a call from the Civil Air Patrol about Myles McGinnis, of La Barge, who took off from Stevensville, Mont., around 11:30 Saturday a.m.
The SCSO said the plane was last reported on radar in western Sublette County near the Lincoln County line, west-southwest of the Upper Hoback road (County Road 174).
Sublette County’s Tip Top Search and Rescue, Lincoln County Search and Rescue, Sublette County deputies and Sublette County Emergency Management responded to that area at dawn Sunday and began an extensive ground search in bad weather without finding McGinnis or his plane.
On Monday, Tip Top members continued the ground search on foot and by snowmachine with handheld receivers for the Emergency Locator Transmitter on board the plane. Multiple fixed-wing aircraft of the Civil Air Patrol and a helicopter from Teton County Search and Rescue stood by to continue the search by air. Weather conditions Monday included heavy fog and low cloud cover. See photos on page 32.
